Everton eyeing Eddie Nketiah swoop

Everton will reportedly look to sign 25-year-old England international Eddie Nketiah from Arsenal in the final days of the summer transfer window.

According to a report by TEAMtalk, Eddie Nketiah is the subject of interest from Everton. The Toffees are keen on signing a striker before the summer transfer window shuts down and have set their sights on the Arsenal striker. With the English attacker’s move to Marseille collapsing, a deal with a Premier League might be on the cards.

Eddie Nketiah and his frustrations at Arsenal

Eddie Nketiah has reached a crossroads in his career after a frustrating 2023/24 campaign. The Englishman was solid in the first quarter of last season, taking advantage of Gabriel Jesus’s fitness struggles. However, his stock dropped as the months progressed, and he barely featured in the second half of 2023/24.

The 25-year-old homegrown player could not even manage 1,500 minutes of game time across 37 appearances in all competitions, chipping in with six goals and three assists. So, it is hardly surprising that Nketiah faces an uncertain future at Arsenal midway through the summer transfer window.

Recent reports heavily linked the England international with Marseille, with the two parties sealing an agreement on personal terms. However, Eddie Nketiah’s move to the Ligue 1 club has stalled, with his options reducing. But a move across the Premier League might be on the cards for the Arsenal striker, with Everton considering a late approach.

Everton interested

Everton’s interest in Eddie Nketiah is understandable. The Toffees have been keen on signing a striker in the summer transfer window amid uncertainties surrounding the long-term futures of Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Beto. So, several candidates, including Armando Broja, have emerged on Everton’s radar.

Nketiah has thus emerged as a viable target for Everton, with his experience in the Premier League making him an appealing target. However, the 25-year-old Englishman will not leave Arsenal unless the Toffees are ready to meet the North London club’s asking price.

The Gunners are open to keeping the English striker beyond the summer transfer window if any suitor does not meet their valuation. So, it will be interesting to see if Eddie Nketiah’s career continues with a move to Everton.
