Liverpool lead race to sign Rayan Ait-Nouri, Chelsea also keen

Liverpool are front-runner in the pursuit of Wolves full-back Rayan Ait-Nouri, Chelsea are also tracking the Algerian sensation.

Liverpool are looking to reinforce their defence ahead of next season as they prepare for the new era under Arne Slot. They want to add more quality to the left-back position and according to Abdel Hamed, they are interested in signing Wolves defensive sensation Rayan Ait-Nouri.

The Algerian international joined the English club towards the end of 2020 on a short loan. The move was made permanent in the summer of 2021 and Ait-Nouri hasn’t looked back since. He has had a sensational rise at Wolves.

He has established himself as a mainstay in the team and had an impressive 2023/24 campaign. The 23-year-old was involved in 38 matches and he even contributed towards five goals. While he still has two years left on his deal at the club, he might not be around next season.

Chelsea tracking Ait-Nouri

Ait-Nouri is expected to part ways with Wolves this summer and multiple clubs in the Premier League are interested in acquiring his services. Chelsea are one of the clubs that have been tracking the young full-back.

While the Blues already have Marc Cucurella and Ben Chilwell, they are still keen on further bolstering the position by adding the Algerian international to their squad. The former Angers defender seems to be an ideal fit for their project that focuses on signing young players and building for the future.

Liverpool leading the race for Ait-Nouri

The London club might be tracking his situation at Wolves but Liverpool are the ones who are in pole position at this point. The Reds want to sign a new left-back on a priority basis. Andrew Robertson struggled with injury last season and with him already 30, they are planning for the long run and are looking to invest in Ait-Nouri.

The 23-year-old full-back has huge potential and the Merseyside club feels he could make the left-back position his own in the long run. While the Reds are front-runners, nothing is done yet as there is still a long way to go. Liverpool might face serious competition from Chelsea as well as other clubs in their pursuit. As a result, it will be interesting to see if they can win the race.
