Aston Villa seek information about Carlos Soler

Aston Villa recently received information about Carlos Soler, who faces an uncertain future at Paris Saint-Germain but wants to remain at the club.

According to a report by French outlet Foot Mercato, Carlos Soler is the subject of interest from Aston Villa. The Villans are keen on signing a midfielder in the summer transfer window, with the Paris Saint-Germain midfielder emerging as a target. However, while the West Midlands club received information about the Spaniard, he does not want to leave PSG anytime soon, as he is earning a lucrative salary of €6-8 million.

Carlos Soler and his PSG travails

Carlos Soler has seen his progress come to a grinding halt since joining Paris Saint-Germain from Valencia in a deal worth €18 million in September 2022. The Spanish international was a highly sought-after player in the market before he moved to Parc des Princes, having gone from strength to strength during his stint with Los Che.

However, the 27-year-old has struggled for starts since joining PSG, becoming a backup player for Les Parisiens in the last two years. That was also the case this past season, with Soler managing only 1,277 minutes of game time across 28 appearances in all competitions, chipping in with two goals and four assists.

Soler’s situation at PSG has alerted several clubs across Europe, while intermediaries have offered him to Premier League bigwigs like Arsenal, Aston Villa, and Tottenham Hotspur. A return to La Liga is also an option for the Spaniard, although Aston Villa will look to beat the competition to his signature.

Next adventure in the Premier League?

Aston Villa’s interest in Carlos Soler is understandable. The West Midlands club will not complete a permanent move for Nicolo Zaniolo in the summer transfer window. So, Aston Villa will delve into the market for a midfielder who can replace the Italian international at Villa Park.

Soler has thus emerged as a viable target for Aston Villa, with the West Midlands club receiving information about him. However, a summer move might not see the light of day, as the Spanish midfielder does not want to leave PSG anytime soon.

The 27-year-old is comfortable and happy at Parc des Princes, earning a lucrative salary of €6-8 million. So, it is understandable why Soler might not want a summer departure, although it means he is satisfied without featuring regularly at the club level, with his international career not progressing either.
