PSG step up interest in Leny Yoro

Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain have reportedly ramped up their efforts to sign Leny Yoro, a target for Real Madrid and Liverpool.

According to a report by French journalist Fabrice Hawkins for RMC Sport, Leny Yoro is the subject of interest from Paris Saint-Germain. The Ligue 1 champions have now intensified their efforts to sign the teenage French sensation, who will cost around €60 million in the summer transfer window. Liverpool and Real Madrid are also keen on signing the LOSC Lille wonderkid.

The rise and rise of Leny Yoro

Leny Yoro has established himself as one of the best young prospects in the world in the last 12 months. A graduate of the LOSC Lille youth division, he broke into the first-team squad at the French club as a 16-year-old. And he is already a mainstay at the back for Les Dogues, going from strength to strength this season.

The 18-year-old has turned out 44 times for Lille this season, chipping in with three goals while amassing over 3,500 minutes of game time. Meanwhile, Yoro’s progress at the Ligue 1 club has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several high-profile clubs, including Liverpool, Real Madrid, and Paris Saint-Germain.

High in demand

Liverpool will see Joel Matip officially depart from Anfield as a free agent on July 1. The veteran Cameroonian defender was an able option in the Merseyside club’s defensive unit. So, with Virgil van Dijk on the wrong side of 30, it behoves Liverpool to invest in a centre-back, with Yoro emerging as a viable target.

Meanwhile, Real Madrid’s interest in Leny Yoro stems from the uncertainties surrounding the future of Nacho. Widespread reports have claimed that the Real Madrid captain will leave Los Blancos in the summer transfer window. In addition, David Alaba and Antonio Rudiger are on the wrong side of 30. So, the Lille defender is an option worth considering.

As for PSG, the Ligue 1 champions are stepping up their efforts to sign the teenage prospect. Milan Skriniar has not been the game-changing signing he was supposed to be. In addition, widespread reports have linked Marquinhos with a summer departure. So, Yoro is a viable target for PSG. Meanwhile, Lille initially demanded around €100 million to sell the youngster but might part ways with him for €60 million.

The price tag leaves PSG in the healthiest position, with Real Madrid not willing to pay over the odds to secure Leny Yoro’s services. Meanwhile, Liverpool will unlikely cough up €60 million to sign the 18-year-old Lille defender. So, a move to Paris might be on the cards for the teenage sensation.
