La Liga heavyweights Real Madrid are reportedly advancing the move to sign 18-year-old LOSC Lille defender Leny Yoro.

According to a report by Spanish outlet MARCA, Leny Yoro is the top target for Real Madrid heading into the summer transfer window. The 18-year-old is also the subject of interest from Manchester United and several other high-profile clubs. But the Merengues are advancing their move for the LOSC Lille centre-back.

Leny Yoro and his skyrocketing stock

Leny Yoro has taken no time to rise in prominence and become a pivotal member of the LOSC Lille squad. The French wonderkid was only 16 years old when he made his first-team debut for Les Dogues nearly two years ago. Since then, he has gone from strength to strength, becoming a mainstay at the back for Lille.

The 18-year-old is on the verge of earning a call-up to the French national team and might be on the plane to Germany for UEFA Euro 2024. As for the youngster’s solid 2023/24 campaign, he has amassed over 3,000 minutes of game time across 36 appearances in all competitions while chipping in with three goals.

Meanwhile, Yoro’s progress has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several high-profile clubs. Widespread reports have linked the Frenchman with many Premier League bigwigs, including Manchester United. But his next destination might be Real Madrid.

Real Madrid keen on Yoro

Real Madrid’s interest in Leny Yoro is understandable. Carlo Ancelotti’s squad has three centre-backs on the wrong side of 30, with David Alaba returning to action next season after a long-term injury layoff. So, it behoves Real Madrid to invest in a central defender, and the Merengues are advancing the move to sign the 18-year-old Lille wonderkid.

As for Manchester United, the Red Devils might part ways with Raphael Varane and Jonny Evans in the summer transfer window. So, Yoro has emerged as a viable target for the Red Devils. But Manchester United might have fallen behind Real Madrid in the race to sign the French prospect.

With Real Madrid advancing the move to sign the 18-year-old wonderkid, a summer move is on the cards. It will be interesting to see if Manchester United or some other suitor can beat Los Blancos to Yoro’s signature.
