Newcastle United eyeing Jarrod Bowen swoop

Newcastle United will reportedly look to sign 27-year-old English international Jarrod Bowen from West Ham United in the summer transfer window.

According to a report by the Daily Telegraph, Jarrod Bowen is the subject of interest from Newcastle United. The Magpies are keen on bolstering their attack in the summer transfer window. And they are aiming to prise the 27-year-old West Ham United talisman away from the London Stadium.

Jarrod Bowen and his rise

Jarrod Bowen has established himself as one of the best players in the Premier League since joining West Ham United from Hull City in January 2020. The East London club took a risk by making a player from the EFL Championship a mainstay in the attack. However, the Englishman has repaid the faith by becoming a talismanic figure for West Ham.

The 27-year-old enjoyed an incredible 2023/24 campaign, amassing 20 goals and 10 assists in 44 appearances across all competitions. However, Bowen’s long-term future might not be at West Ham United, with several well-known clubs, including Newcastle United, interested in signing him in the summer transfer window.

Newcastle United will aim to bolster almost every department in the summer transfer window. Missing out on qualifying for the UEFA Champions League will have consequences, with surgery of the squad on the cards. In particular, Newcastle will look to reinforce the offensive department in the coming weeks.

Move across the Premier League on the horizon?

Signing a striker is a priority for Newcastle United amid uncertainties surrounding the future of Callum Wilson. Dominic Calvert-Lewin has thus emerged as a viable target for the Tyneside outfit. However, the Magpies are also interested in Jarrod Bowen.

Miguel Almiron will likely depart from St. James’ Park in the summer transfer window. In addition, Harvey Barnes has struggled with fitness issues since joining Newcastle United from Leicester City. So, Bowen is an option worth considering for the Magpies, although they are also keen on signing Michael Olise from Crystal Palace.

However, Bowen can be a player who transforms the Newcastle United attack, although convincing West Ham United to sell a talismanic figure like the 27-year-old will be a tall order. So, it will be interesting to see if the Englishman moves to St. James’ Park in the summer transfer window.
