Manchester United, Aston Villa, West Ham United keen on Oumar Solet

Manchester United, Aston Villa, and West Ham United are reportedly interested in signing 24-year-old versatile Frenchman Oumar Solet.

According to a report by 90min, Oumar Solet is the subject of interest from Manchester United. Aston Villa and West Ham United are also keen on signing the 24-year-old versatile defender. In addition, clubs from Bundesliga, Ligue 1, and Serie A are chasing the signature of the Red Bull Salzburg centre-back.

Who is Oumar Solet?

Oumar Solet has found a stable footing in his career since joining Red Bull Salzburg from Lyon in July 2020. A native of Melun, the versatile Frenchman spent his formative years in his homeland, passing through the academies at FC Dammarie-les-Lys, US Créteil-Lusitanos, US Villejuif, and Stade Laval.

Meanwhile, the 24-year-old has turned out over 100 times thus far for Red Bull Salzburg, chipping in with four goals and five assists. However, Solet’s long-term future at the Austrian club is uncertain, as he will enter the final year of his contract on July 1. Such a situation has alerted well-known clubs across Europe, including Manchester United, Aston Villa, and West Ham United.

Premier League move on the horizon?

Manchester United will delve into the market for a centre-back in the summer transfer window in the wake of Raphael Varane’s announcement of his impending departure from Old Trafford as a free agent. In addition, Jonny Evans faces an uncertain future at Manchester United. So, several candidates, including Gleison Bremer, have emerged on their radar, with Solet also a viable target.

Meanwhile, Aston Villa’s interest in Oumar Solet is understandable. Clement Lenglet will unlikely complete a permanent move to Villa Park in the summer transfer window. So, the Villans need a replacement before they head into next season’s UEFA Champions League. The 24-year-old versatile Frenchman is thus an option worth considering.

As for West Ham United, they will likely part ways with Nayef Aguerd in the summer transfer window. In addition, Angelo Ogbonna is well into his thirties and approaching the end of his career. So, it behoves West Ham to invest in a centre-back, with Solet emerging as a viable target.

Apart from the Premier League trio, clubs from the Bundesliga, Ligue 1, and Serie A are also interested in the 24-year-old versatile Frenchman, who can also play as a holding midfielder. So, it will be interesting to see where he lands this summer.
