Meanwhile, Newcastle United had one of the best defensive units in the Premier League last season. The Magpies seemed quite resolute at the back but they need to improve this season.

They will be competing in the UEFA Champions League and they will be up against top-class attackers on a weekly basis. Newcastle need to improve their squad in order to do well across multiple competitions and the 23-year-old French defender could prove to be a quality long-term acquisition.

The Magpies will be an attractive destination for him because of the Champions League qualification and they are likely to have an edge over Everton if they are truly interested in signing Solet.
