Real Madrid rule out move for Estevao Willian

Real Madrid will not launch the offensive to sign Estevao Willian due to his agent, Andre Cury’s strained relations with Juni Calafat.

According to a report by Mario Cortegana of The Athletic, Estevao Willian is the subject of interest from Real Madrid. However, the Merengues have ruled out a move for the 17-year-old prodigy due to Juni Calafat’s strained relations with the youngster’s agent, Andre Cury. Meanwhile, Palmeiras and Chelsea are in talks over an initial deal worth €30 million.

The Palmeiras talent factory

Estevao Willian is the next Palmeiras wonderkid who will seal a big-money move to Europe. The club developed Gabriel Jesus before he joined Manchester City, while Endrick will move to Real Madrid in a few months. The Brazilian outfit will also witness clubs approach them for other prodigies, including Luis Guilherme and Thalys.

As for the player in question, Estevao’s progress has been quick and sharp, with coaches rating him even more highly than Endrick. The 17-year-old has already broken into the first-team squad at Palmeiras, turning out 14 times while chipping in with three goals and one assist in just 464 minutes of game time.

So, it is hardly surprising that several high-profile clubs are keen on securing Estevao’s services as soon as possible. Widespread reports have linked the Brazilian wonderkid with European bigwigs like Barcelona and Arsenal. Meanwhile, he has also been a target for Real Madrid due to Juni Calafat’s influence. However, the youngster’s next destination might be Chelsea.

A big move beckons?

Real Madrid’s interest in Estevao Willian is hardly surprising, considering the club’s constant forays into the South American market. A few signings have already become core players for Los Blancos, with Federico Valverde and Vinicius Junior being two of the most pivotal performers. However, Real Madrid will not launch the offensive for the Palmeiras wonderkid due to Calafat’s strained relations with his agent, Andre Cury.

Meanwhile, Chelsea and Palmeiras are already in talks over a base deal worth €30 million, with the total package containing hefty add-ons. And the Blues are confident they will beat the competition to Estevao’s signature.

Chelsea’s interest in the Brazilian wonderkid is hardly surprising, considering the Blues have been active in the Brazilian market under the Todd Boehly-led regime. Prospects like Andrey Santos, Angelo Gabriel, and Deivid Washington have joined the West London club in the last 18 months. And Estevao’s name might appear on the same list in a few weeks.
