Newcastle United ready to pay €30 million to sign Dean Huijsen

Newcastle United are reportedly willing to cough up €30 million to sign 18-year-old Dutch-born Spanish youth international Dean Huijsen.

According to a report by Il Bianconero, Dean Huijsen is the subject of interest from Newcastle United and several other well-known European clubs. Juventus will demand around €30 million to part ways with the 18-year-old in the summer transfer window. And the Magpies are ready to meet the asking price for the teenage defensive sensation.

Dean Huijsen and his rise at AS Roma

Dean Huijsen has gone from strength to strength since joining AS Roma on loan from Juventus in January. A native of Amsterdam, the teenage prospect spent most of his formative years in Spain, passing through the academies at Costa Unida CF and Malaga CF. However, he has graduated from the youth division at Juventus after joining the Bianconeri in July 2021.

Meanwhile, the youngster has chosen Spain at the under-21 level after turning out for the Netherlands until the under-19 stage. As for Huijsen’s progress at AS Roma, he has turned out 14 times thus far for the Giallorossi, chipping in with two goals and one assist. The 18-year-old has captured the attention of several high-profile clubs with his exploits.

Premier League bigwigs, in particular, are keen on signing the Dutch-born teenage sensation in the summer transfer window.  In addition, he is a target for other European heavyweights, including Borussia Dortmund. However, Huijsen’s next destination might be Newcastle United.

Newcastle calling?

Newcastle United’s interest in Dean Huijsen is understandable. The Magpies are scouring the market for a centre-back heading into the summer transfer window amid the long-term absences of Sven Botman and Jamaal Lascelles. So, several candidates have emerged on Newcastle United’s radar.

Huijsen is also a viable target, with the 18-year-old having the potential to be Botman’s long-term central defensive partner. Meanwhile, Juventus will demand around €30 million to part ways with the youngster in the summer transfer window. That might not be a problem for Newcastle United.

The report has suggested that the Magpies are willing to cough up €30 million to secure Huijsen’s services in the summer transfer window. However, it will be interesting to see if the 18-year-old Dutch-born Spanish youth international is ready to join the Tyneside outfit.
