Crystal Palace might enter the race to sign 23-year-old Club Brugge midfielder Raphael Onyedika, who will cost £20 million.

According to a report by The Sun, Raphael Onyedika is the subject of interest from Crystal Palace. The Eagles are scouring the market for a midfielder heading into the summer transfer window. Meanwhile, Club Brugge will demand around £20 million to part ways with the 23-year-old.

Who is Rafael Onyedika?

Raphael Onyedika has been a solid performer since arriving in Europe from Africa half a decade ago. A native of Imo, the Nigerian international spent most of his formative years in his homeland before joining FC Midtjylland in July 2019. He came leaps and bounds at the Danish side before moving to Club Brugge in August 2022.

The 23-year-old has gone from strength to strength at the Belgian outfit in the last two years. A mainstay in the middle of the park, Onyedika has turned out 82 times thus far for Club Brugge while chipping in with four goals and two assists. The player has added goalscoring acumen to his game this season, which has alerted prospective suitors.

Widespread reports have linked the African midfielder with several well-known clubs across Europe. Crystal Palace might be one of his prospective suitors heading into the summer transfer window. Meanwhile, Club Brugge will demand around £20 million to part ways with him.

Crystal Palace want Onyedika

Crystal Palace’s interest in Raphael Onyedika is intriguing. The Eagles have several holding midfielders after the arrival of Jefferson Lerma last summer. In addition, they bolstered their midfield department in the winter transfer window by signing Adam Wharton from Blackburn Rovers.

Nevertheless, several midfielders, including Wilfred Ndidi, have emerged on Crystal Palace’s radar heading into the summer transfer window. Onyedika is also a viable target, with his price tag of £20 million not posing a problem either amid uncertainties surrounding the futures of Michael Olise and Eberechi Eze.

Crystal Palace will struggle to keep hold of Olise, in particular, amid his links with several high-profile Premier League clubs. The Frenchman’s sale might fund Onyedika’s move. So, it will be interesting to see if a deal worth £20 million for the 23-year-old African midfielder sees the light of day.
