Aston Villa are reportedly interested in signing 25-year-old Spanish wide man Marc Cucurella from Chelsea this summer.

A report from TEAMtalk has claimed that Aston Villa plotting a summer move for Chelsea defender Marc Cucurella, who has been quite underwhelming since joining the West London club.

Chelsea paid £65 million to sign the Spaniard from Brighton & Hove Albion. But the move has not worked out. Cucurella has been quite underwhelming for his new club, and Chelsea need to bring in an upgrade.

Recent reports have linked Chelsea with several left-backs, including Rayan Ait-Nouri. It will be interesting to see if Chelsea are prepared to sanction Cucurella’s departure at the end of the season and cut their losses on the Spanish defender.

Aston Villa need defensive reinforcements at the end of the season and Cucurella could prove to be a useful acquisition for them if he can regain his form and confidence. Playing under a tactically astute manager like Unai Emery could help him get back to his best once again. The Spanish defender excelled at Brighton and he will be disappointed with his performances at Chelsea so far.
