Manchester United recently dispatched scouts to watch Aaron Anselmino, with the 18-year-old Boca Juniors defender also a target for Chelsea.

According to a report by HITC, Aaron Anselmino is the subject of interest from Chelsea. The 18-year-old defender is also a target for Manchester United ahead of the summer transfer window. And the Red Devils recently sent scouts to watch the Boca Juniors sensation in action.

Who is Aaron Anselmino?

Aaron Anselmino is among the latest Argentine prodigies to rise in prominence in the last two years. The country has witnessed the rise of Claudio Echeverri, who has joined Manchester City, and Franco Mastantuono, who has emerged on the radar of most top clubs in Europe. Anselmino is following in their footsteps.

The Argentine defensive sensation has made a splash with his exploits for Boca Juniors, having made his first-team debut for the fabled club last year. The 18-year-old has already turned out nine times for Boca Juniors, chipping in with one goal. Meanwhile, the youngster’s progress has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several high-profile clubs.

Recent reports have linked the Anselmino with Real Madrid. However, the next destination for the young centre-back might be the Premier League, with Chelsea and Manchester United vying for his signature. And the Red Devils recently dispatched their scouts to watch him in action.

Premier League move on the cards?

Manchester United’s interest in Aaron Anselmino is understandable. The Red Devils are scouring the market for a young centre-back amid uncertainties surrounding the futures of Raphael Varane and Jonny Evans. The Boca Juniors wonderkid has thus emerged as a viable target for Manchester United.

As for Chelsea, they have recently joined the race to sign the 18-year-old Argentine sensation. The West London will likely part ways with Thiago Silva in the summer transfer window, while Benoit Badiashile and Trevoh Chalobah face an uncertain future at Stamford Bridge. Anselmino is thus an option worth considering for Chelsea.

Apart from Chelsea and Manchester United, several European bigwigs are interested in the Argentine defensive prospect. It will be interesting to see if the teenage whizkid arrives in Europe in the coming months amid extensive interest in his services.
