Premier League heavyweights Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly set their sights on 21-year-old Shakhtar Donetsk midfielder Georgiy Sudakov.

According to a report by Caught Offside, Georgiy Sudakov is the subject of interest from Tottenham Hotspur. The North London giants are in the market for a midfielder heading into the summer transfer window. Meanwhile, the latest update has revealed that Chelsea and Liverpool are not pursuing the 21-year-old Shakhtar Donetsk midfielder.

Who is Georgiy Sudakov?

Georgiy Sudakov has established himself as one of the best young midfielders in the world since breaking into the first-team squad at Shakhtar Donetsk. A native of Bryanka, Lugansk Oblast, he began his youth career at his hometown club, Sokil Bryanka before spending two years at Metalist Kharkiv. However, he has come leaps and bounds since joining Shakhtar over half a dozen years ago.

The 21-year-old is now a mainstay in the middle of the park for Shakhtar while becoming a full-fledged Ukrainian international a few years ago. The youngster has enjoyed a solid 2023/24 campaign thus far, contributing to ten goals in 28 appearances. Sudakov has found the back of the net seven times while providing three assists.

Sudakov’s progress has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several high-profile clubs across Europe. Recent reports have linked him with many Premier League bigwigs, with Liverpool reportedly in the pole position. The young midfielder is now a target for Tottenham Hotspur.

London calling?

However, the report by Caught Offside has ruled Liverpool and Chelsea out of the race to sign Georgiy Sudakov while mentioning Inter Milan and Juventus as his prospective suitors. However, the two Serie A giants might not be able to afford his price tag, with Shakhtar Donetsk demanding at least €70 million to sell him. That might not be a problem for Tottenham.

Tottenham will delve into the market for a midfielder in the summer transfer window amid uncertainties surrounding the future of Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg. So, several candidates, including Conor Gallagher, have emerged on the North London club’s radar. However, Sudakov is also a viable target for Tottenham due to his versatility.

With Liverpool reportedly not in the race to sign Sudakov, Tottenham should have a clear run at him. It will be interesting to see if they are ready to fork out at least €70 million to sign the 21-year-old Ukrainian international in the summer transfer window.
