Manchester City are ready to break the bank and fork out £120 million to sign 21-year-old Bayern Munich star Jamal Musiala.

According to a report by TEAMtalk, Manchester City are keen on having Jamal Musiala in their ranks. The 21-year-old Bayern Munich star is considered to be one of the biggest talents in Europe, and Pep Guardiola wants him at his disposal starting next season. The treble winners are ready to smash their transfer record by paying £120 million for the ex-Chelsea academy ace.

Jamal Musiala’s rise to the top

Musiala was a part of the Chelsea youth ranks back in the day before he joined Bayern Munich in the summer of 2019. He went from their Under-17 team to the first team in a year’s time and at 21, he is already a mainstay in the team.

The German international has already proved himself at the very highest level, and he is an integral part of the German giants’ plans moving ahead. But, Manchester City could look to prise the former Chelsea academy ace away from Bayern as they look to reinforce their squad.

Guardiola’s team have dominated the Premier League in recent years but of late the gap at the top has narrowed. Liverpool and Arsenal have challenged Manchester City for the league title over the past few seasons and the two clubs are in the thick of things this season as well.

Manchester City want to sign Musiala

In order to widen the gap at the top, the Manchester City boss wants to further reinforce their squad. He wants to bring in Musiala who is capable enough to play in the midfield as well as the attack. He will add a lot of quality as well as goals to the mix. In the ongoing season, the 21-year-old has contributed towards 19 goals.

Kevin De Bruyne is already 32, and he has been struggling with injuries of late. Meanwhile, Bernardo Silva might only be 29, but he has been linked with a move away from the club for a while now. As a result, they do need to reinforce their squad and bring in someone who can pair up with Phil Foden for years to come.

The club feels Musiala will be an ideal fit but signing him won’t be that straightforward. The former Chelsea academy ace’s contract with Bayern Munich runs until the summer of 2026, and they won’t let him leave unless there is a massive offer.

According to the report, the German international could cost around £120 million and City are ready to break their previous transfer record of £100 million paid to sign Jack Grealish to have the 21-year-old in their ranks.

Good player, but no way City will pay that fee.
