Manchester City are frontrunners for Jamal Musiala, who has reservations about his Bayern Munich future amid heavy interest from elsewhere.

The Independent puts Manchester City as the frontrunner in the chase for Jamal Musiala. This season, the German playmaker with 19 G+A has reservations about continuing his career at Bayern Munich, with other clubs like Liverpool and Barcelona also chasing the 21-year-old.

Manchester City frontrunners for Jamal Musiala?

There are some critical decisions for Manchester City to make ahead, including adding a fantastic attacker to their squad. There are possibilities that Pep Guardiola would elevate Phil Foden’s role, and the club might probably cash in on Kevin De Bruyne and heavy links to Saudi Arabia.

If the latter scenario materialises, they might need a top-draw replacement, as Guardiola would want a fluid forward to slot in multiple positions. Jamal Musiala remains a player of interest, with Manchester City reportedly ahead in the race for the Bayern Munich playmaker, who also has the interest of many other clubs.

There’s uncertainty in Musiala’s camp about continuing his career at Bayern, with some reports even stating he has rejected advances of a new contract. In any case, Bayern would love to keep him in Munich and will do their best to convince him this is the right place; hence, they are uninterested in a sale.

Liverpool are also keen, but Manchester City is eager to get ahead in the race, as the report named them front runners. He will have a significant role under Guardiola should he swap Bayern for Man City. However, the Catalan manager also has eyes on alternatives should they fail to lure him in the upcoming summer window.

Manchester City are planning to sign a new playmaker

There are a host of names listed as potential targets for Manchester City, and all of those are attacking playmakers of different profiles. Recent reports state that Manchester City are closing in on Lucas Paqueta after having chased him last summer.

Michael Olise is also mentioned as a target, while his Crystal Palace teammate Eberechi Eze remains a big target. Overall, Guardiola seems to be planning life beyond De Bruyne, as at some stage, Manchester City must replace the Belgian superstar, although should they get Musiala, he could become their primary target.
