Pete O’Rourke insists he does not see Trent Alexander-Arnold leaving Liverpool and believes he will sign a bumper new deal.

According to Pete-O’Rourke on Football Insider, Trent Alexander-Arnold will likely sign a bumper new deal with Liverpool to prolong his stay at Anfield. The 25-year-old Real Madrid target believes he has no reason to leave the club amid speculation surrounding his future.

Trent Alexander-Arnold to extend Liverpool’s stay

There has been much speculation surrounding Trent Alexander-Arnold’s situation at Liverpool over the last few weeks. The 25-year-old will enter the final year of his deal, but there’s a period of wait before the club begins accelerating their efforts to tie him down on a long-term contract.

Liverpool have plans to ramp up talks with the player and see to it that he stays at the club beyond his current deal that expires in 2025. For now, they are relaxed, and as Pete O’Rourke suggested, there’s no real desire from Alexander-Arnold to leave the club despite massive interest in the 25-year-old Real Madrid target.

O’Rourke said, “I don’t see Alexander-Arnold having any real desire to leave Liverpool right now, he’s vice-captain, probably a future captain in the making in a few years.”

“Once Virgil van Dijk hangs up his boots or moves on I think Alexander-Arnold is the ready-made replacement as captain.”

“He’s a boyhood Liverpool fan and loves the club, so I think there will be talks ongoing right now and over the summer.”

“Once Liverpool get everything in order with the new manager now they’ve got the structure off the pitch set in stone with Richard Hughes and Michael Edwards back in there, I’m sure negotiations should progress pretty smoothly, and Alexander-Arnold will be offered a bumper new contract to extend his stay at Anfield.”

“I’m sure the player himself, as long as those terms are right, will have no issues committing his long-term future to his boyhood club.”

Some reports recently insisted Alexander-Arnold could be handed a bumper contract, which would make the right-back more money than current superstars Mohamed Salah and Virgin van Dijk. Whether there’s any element of truth remains to be seen.

However, there’s increasing confidence that Alexander-Arnold will remain at the club for the foreseeable future and reject other sides’ overtures. Real Madrid have been quoted a huge sum if they plan to sign the defender, something the Spanish side might soon look away from.

Alexander-Arnold, the next Liverpool captain?

With Jurgen Klopp’s time coming to an end in the summer, there might be a change of guard on the pitch, with Liverpool probably planning on revamping things. Changes are already afoot in the background, with a new structure already put in place, and soon enough, many more changes could appear with the playing squad.

Virgil van Dijk might soon leave the club if the new hierarchy feels the need to change leadership. Should the Dutchman change clubs, Alexander-Arnold must be the clear favourite to take on the armband, maybe not immediately next summer but in a year or so.
