Liverpool are set to accelerate talks with Trent Alexander-Arnold about a new long-term deal after confirming two key appointments first.

According to Football Insider, Liverpool will ramp up contract talks with Trent Alexander-Arnold once they confirm two key appointments for the club. Any deal for the 25-year-old key Real Madrid target would happen after the arrival of Michael Edwards and Richard Hughes, meaning things could start moving after the Euros.

Liverpool to ramp up Alexander-Arnold talks

Liverpool are a club in transition with plenty of changes planned ahead of the summer. First, they have to find a suitable replacement for the departing Jurgen Klopp and then manage the futures of several key first-team stars, including Mohamed Salah and right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold.

The latter will enter the final year of his deal with no indication of a new contract so far from the club. The 25-year-old has spent his entire club career with the Merseysiders, having come through their academy, but things are expected to progress regarding a new deal ahead of the summer.

There have been heavy links with Real Madrid in recent days, with some reports suggesting Liverpool could even offer Alexander-Arnold in a swap deal for Rodrygo Goes. That would be an interesting swap and one that would shake up the transfer market, although it does seem unlikely.

In fact, Alexander-Arnold wants a new deal to stay at the club and prolong his career at Anfield. Now, the club is planning to ramp up contract talks once they complete the appointments of key men in the background. The report states that once Michael Edwards and Richard Huges join the club, they will look at ramping up contract talks with Alexander-Arnold, which could potentially happen after the Euros.

Real Madrid are interested in Alexander-Arnold

Real Madrid are looking at a long-term successor for Dani Carvajal, and going by their recently adopted transfer policy,. Alexander-Arnold fits the bill. Despite having a year left on his deal, Liverpool are set to demand a huge price should the defender decide to leave.

The asking price would certainly put off Madrid from the pursuit, although Alexander-Arnold may have no interest in leaving Liverpool. Hence, the club are relaxed about his situation amid all the media noise, as they could agree on a new deal with ease after the Euros.
