Fulham are interested in acquiring the services of the 28-year-old Manchester City midfielder Kalvin Phillips in the summer.
According to a report by Football Transfers, Fulham are looking at ways to reinforce their midfield in the summer and they have their eyes set on Kalvin Phillips. While the 28-year-old England international has not had the best of times in the recent past, the Cottagers are still willing to invest in him with hopes that he can reignite his career.
Manchester City acquired the services of Phillips in the summer of 2020 from Leeds United for a fee of €50 million. The 28-year-old had made quite a name for himself while playing for the Yorkshire-based club before making the big-money move to the giants.
Unfortunately, the move has not gone according to plan for him. He secured a loan move to West Ham United in the winter window in the hope of reviving himself. However, even that has not done him any good. David Moyes’s team have already made it clear that Phillips will return to his parent club in the summer.
Fulham looking at Phillips as potential reinforcement
While his contract with Manchester City runs until the summer of 2028, there is no place for him in Pep Guardiola’s team. As a result, they will look to move him away in the summer. Fulham are one of the clubs keen on his signature as they look to reinforce their midfield.
Joao Palhinha’s future at Fulham is not certain. Top clubs from across Europe could once again push hard for the services of the Portuguese international. As a result, the Cottagers are looking for different options to ensure they can cope with his potential departure.
Fulham are looking to bring in a marquee player who can be a leader in their midfield, and they feel Phillips could be the one. The Manchester City outcast might have struggled in the last few seasons but he did prove himself in the English top flight during his time at Leeds. As a result, they believe he can still revive himself and are willing to invest in him.
While there is interest from Leeds United as well, that deal depends on them winning promotion and then having sufficient funds to bring him back.
