Manchester United have added Wolves captain Max Kilman to their list of defensive targets for the summer window.

According to The Times, Manchester United is showing a strong interest in Wolves’ 26-year-old Premier League captain, Max Kilman, ahead of the summer. Signing new centre-backs could become a priority for INEOS to kickstart their new era, with the Wolves man likely to be seen as valuable for his league experience.

Manchester United eye Max Kilman

Manchester United is facing a vast summer window, with INEOS eager to kickstart their era positively. There might be many incoming changes in the background and a Squad revamp in some critical positions on the pitch.

For instance, Manchester United severely lacks in central midfield, while there’s a huge problem at the back, with multiple central defenders needed in the summer. The Red Devils have seen links to many important central defenders recently, with Juventus’ Gleison Bremer a big target.

INEOS might look at European clubs for solutions, but they will also value Premier League experience while building a new backline. Wolvbes’ 26-year-old Premier League captain Max Kilman has emerged as a critical target for the Red Devils, with the club likely to test the Midlands club with an approach.

West Ham was interested in January, while Tottenham also wanted to explore a move, but Wolves were hesitant to sell him that month. The Decision might have vindicated them as the defender could even help them with a European finish.

Manchester United’s problems at the back.

Ranging from a new right-back, left-back and centre-back, Manchester United is looking at a backline revamp in the summer. There are some departures planned there, with Raphael Varane, Jonny Evans, and one of Victor Lindelof or Harry Maguire leaving. Hence, they must bring someone with qualities to start games and keep the defensive depth in mind.

The situation leaves only Lisandro Martinez as their bonafide centre-back, meaning the club must recruit multiple players for that position. They might struggle to spend big on each, meaning they must be shrewd negotiators when dealing with players like Kilman.
