Chelsea are set to rival some of their prominent rivals in the Premier League for midfielder Khepren Thuram, who could leave OGC Nice.

According to HITC, Chelsea are ready to rival some of their big domestic rivals for Khephren Thuram in the summer. Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester United are among the suitors for the 23-year-old Ligue 1 star, who could be ready to leave OGC Nice to fulfil a new challenge in his career.

Chelsea in Khephren Thuram’s pursuit

Last summer, Khephren Thuram may have come to the Premier League, but interest soon died down, probably due to OGC Nice’s demands for the midfielder. The 23-year-old Ligue 1 star may have been open to a switch, although he might make that transfer in the upcoming window.

Liverpool were one of the favourites for him last summer amid Jurgen Klopp’s midfield revamp. Soon enoiugh, Manchester Untied entered the race as the midfielder seemed destined to come to Old Trafford. However, neither move happened, as the 23-year-old Ligue 1 star remained with Nice.

Manchester United and Arsenal are still interested, while Liverpool might also rekindle their chase. Chelsea is the latest to enter the race, with the Blues ready to battle their big Premier League rivals for the Frenchman in the summer. His profile and box-to-box role are something many top clubs will crave, with the 23-year-old Ligue 1 star likely to fulfil his career in England.

Chelsea has financial potential, although there have been troubles with FFP and PSR regulations since their expansion spending over the last two years. Meanwhile, they might have to sell some of their current players to accommodate someone like Thuram, as Nice could demand somewhere between £35-40 million for the midfielder.

Chelsea’s plans for the summer window

Chelsea has had a disastrous season so far but could still salvage it by winning the FA Cup and finishing in a European spot. However, when the summer window opens, they must find innovative ways to execute their plans, which involve bringing in a new striker, midfielder, and defender.

They might plan to sell some of their homegrown stars like Trevoh Chalobah, Ian Maatsen and Conor Gallagher. A player like Thuram might replace the latter, as Gallagher’s sale would mean total profit for the club in terms of FFP.
