Manchester United have reportedly made their first move to sign 19-year-old Brazilian attacking sensation Thalys.
According to a report by Brazilian outlet Trivela, Thalys is the subject of interest from Manchester United. The Red Devils have identified the 19-year-old as a potential offensive reinforcement for the summer transfer window. And they have established contact over a possible move for the Palmeiras wonderkid.
Who is Thalys?
Thalys Henrique Gomes de Araujo, better known as Thalys, is the latest Brazilian prospect to rise in prominence in his homeland. The teenage prospect has spent his formative years in his homeland, joining Palmeiras from Clube de Regatas Brasil in April 2021. He has thus become the latest wonderkid to emerge from the Palmeiras youth division.
The Brazilian outfit has produced several highly-rated prodigies in the last few years, including Gabriel Jesus, Endrick, Estevao Willian and Luis Guilherme. Thalys’s rise in prominence is good news for Palmeiras, as he can bring them more money (due to his release clause worth €40 million) when he inevitably moves to Europe.
The 19-year-old has been exceptional in the 2024 season thus far, scoring thrice in five outings in the Copinha. The youngster’s progress has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several high-profile clubs across Europe.
