Dean Jones has claimed that if Joshua Kimmich was to choose between Manchester City and Liverpool, he would select the Etihad as his destination.

According to Dean Jones on Give Me Sport, Joshua Kimmich might choose to join Manchester City over Liverpool if he had the choice of those clubs. The German international, valued at £60 million, could depart Bayern Munich with a host of clubs, including Real Madrid and Barcelona, keen.

Joshua Kimmich would prefer Manchester City

A player like Joshua Kimmich rarely becomes available in the market, and when they do, a host of top clubs will certainly want their name ahead. In the next window, The German international might look to leave Bayern Munich, with his contract situation working in his favour as he enters the final year of his deal.

The versatile midfielder may have grown frustrated with life at Bayern, which has sparked the interest of many top clubs over the last few months. Real Madrid have shown an interest and could look at the player as someone who could add immense value to their side, particularly if Luka Modric ends up leaving in the summer.

Barcelona have been put off by Bayern’s reported £60 million asking price, which may leave them out of their equation now. They might target an audacious free move for the midfielder in the summer of 2025. But by then, he might have moved out and be playing elsewhere.

As per Dean Jones, Kimmich would reportedly prefer a move to Manchester City over Liverpool. He have been linked with the Merseyside club, with the German international fitting into their requirement perfectly. However, the journalist insists he might choose the Etihad over other destinations.

Manchester City, Liverpool in the Kimmich race?

Manchester City wanted Declan Rice last summer but settled for below-par options like Mateo Kovacic and Matheus Nunes. Those two have yet to perform to their level, as Pep Guardiola might still seek a replacement for the departed Ilkay Gundogan.

Liverpool also wanted someone with experience to marshall their midfield setup, which has been decent but could get better. Hence, the Reds are in the market for a player of Kimmich’s quality. And should he become available, they and others will undoubtedly battle it out for his services.

Well as it was Klopp who was interested in Kimmich and he is leaving, it’s a good job as I can guarantee the next manager has no interest in buying Kimmich when we are buying young, so next manager can train them to the style he wants
