La Liga champions Barcelona might launch the offensive to sign OGC Nice midfielder Khephren Thuram, a target for Liverpool.

According to a report by Spanish outlet SPORT, Khephren Thuram is the subject of interest from Barcelona. The Frenchman is also a target for several Premier League bigwigs, including Manchester United. Meanwhile, OGC Nice will demand around €35 million to part ways with him in the summer transfer window.

Who is Khephren Thuram?

Khephren Thuram has established himself as one of the best young midfielders in Europe since joining OGC Nice. The 23-year-old is the son of legendary former footballer Lilian Thuram and the younger brother of Marcus Thuram. He spent his formative years at three clubs, graduating from the AS Monaco youth division.

But Thuram’s stock has risen after joining OGC Nice from AS Monaco in July 2019. He has gone from strength to strength in the last half a decade, although the player has endured a topsy-turvy ride this term. A few fitness issues have hampered the French midfielder, restricting him to 22 appearances across all competitions.

Nevertheless, Thuram remains highly rated in the market, with several high-profile clubs setting their sights on him. Manchester United and many other Premier League bigwigs are keen on signing him. But the Frenchman’s next destination might be Barcelona, with the Blaugrana joining the chase. Meanwhile, OGC Nice will demand €35 million to part ways with him.

Premier League or La Liga?

Barcelona’s interest in Khephren Thuram is understandable. While the French midfielder is primarily a box-to-box midfielder, he can also play as a holding midfielder. His control of the ball makes him an ideal fit for the ethos of Barcelona, and he can stitch together a solid midfield partnership with Frenkie de Jong and Pedri.

As for Manchester United, the Red Devils are scouring the market for a midfielder amid uncertainties surrounding the futures of Christian Eriksen, Casemiro, and Donny van de Beek. Thuram has thus emerged as a viable target for Manchester United.

Meanwhile, Thuram’s price tag of €35 million should not pose a problem for Barcelona. Manchester United can also afford to secure his services. So, the race to sign the 23-year-old Frenchman should heat up in the coming months.
