Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur have received a major boost in their pursuit of Ivan Toney as Arsenal have taken a back seat.
According to a report by Football Insider, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur are both looking to sign a top-quality forward ahead of next season and they have their eyes set on Ivan Toney. The Brentford star has attracted a lot of interest in the recent past and he could be on the move in the upcoming transfer window.
Toney has been a consistent performer for the Bees over the years. The eight-month-long ban for illegal betting has hampered his career but the 28-year-old is now back in action. Since making his return in January, he has scored four goals in his 10 league outings and has even been called up to the England national team.
The England international had 20 goals in the Premier League last season before getting banned. He is a proven goal scorer and that is why top clubs are after his signatures. Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur have all been linked with the Brentford striker.

Mikel Arteta is not happy with the out of his strikers and wants a new number nine. Toney has been on their radar for a long while but they seem to have withdrawn from the race and that is a huge boost for both Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur.
The Blues struggled to score goals at the start of the season. While they have found a way out, they are planning to sign a world-class forward in the summer and Toney is one of their targets.
But, before they make a move, the London club needs to sanction a few departures and balance their books to afford the 28-year-old who won’t come cheap despite his contract running out in 2025.
As far as Tottenham are concerned, they decided against signing a new striker after the departure of Harry Kane last summer. Son Heung-min and Richarlison have featured in a more central role this season and they have managed to cope with his absence.
But, Ange Postecoglou is now keen on signing a new striker to help his team take the next step and challenge for all major titles. Toney has a proven track record in the Premier League and he could be an ideal fit in their system.
While Arsenal taking a back seat is a boost for Tottenham and Chelsea, a lot still needs to be done in order to land him at the club.
