According to a report by Spanish outlet Defensa Central, Florian Wirtz is the subject of interest from Real Madrid. The Bayer Leverkusen playmaker is also a target for Barcelona. But the Merengues are ready to sweeten the deal by offering Arda Guler on loan to Bayer Leverkusen to seal the agreement to sign the German international.
Florian Wirtz and his star-making rise
Florian Wirtz has established himself as one of the best players in the Bundesliga since joining Bayer Leverkusen from FC Koln in January 2020. The 20-year-old had to bide his time before becoming a regular in the first-team squad at BayArena. But he has not looked back in the last few years, becoming a mainstay for his club and country.
The German international has already turned out 14 times for Die Mannschaft despite being only 20 years old. Meanwhile, he has overcome a long-term injury to become a productive member of the Bayer Leverkusen attack. Wirtz is enjoying an excellent 2023/24 campaign, amassing 11 goals and 17 assists in 36 appearances across all competitions.
Those 28 goal contributions have been instrumental in Bayer Leverkusen being unbeaten on all fronts thus this term. With Die Werkself eyeing a historic trophy-winning campaign, Wirtz’s stock has skyrocketed, with several high-profile clubs setting their sights on him. A move to La Liga might be on the cards, with Real Madrid and Barcelona interested in him.

Widespread reports have suggested that Real Madrid will launch the offensive for Florian Wirtz in 2025 instead of this year. With Toni Kroos and Luka Modric in the twilight of their careers, Real Madrid can do with a productive playmaker. So, the Bayer Leverkusen star is a viable target. And the Merengues are ready to sweeten the deal by offering Arda Guler on loan to the German outfit.
As for Barcelona, the reigning La Liga champions hold a long-standing interest in Wirtz. In addition, the German international is an admirer of the Catalan club, with Andres Iniesta being one of his role models.
