Arsenal will reportedly look at 23-year-old Columbus Crew goalkeeper Patrick Schulte as one of the options to replace Aaron Ramsdale.
According to a report by the Daily Telegraph, Patrick Schulte is the subject of interest from Arsenal. The Gunners are scouring the market for a goalkeeper heading into the summer transfer window amid uncertainties surrounding the future of Aaron Ramsdale. The 23-year-old Columbus Crew goalkeeper has thus emerged as a target.
Who is Patrick Schulte?
Patrick Schulte is one of the best young goalkeepers in the MLS. A native of Saint Charles, Missouri, the American shot-stopper spent his formative years in his home state before graduating from the Saint Louis FC youth division. But he has risen in prominence since joining Columbus Crew from SLU Billikens in January 2022.
The 23-year-old has been a regular for Columbus Crew in the early days of the 2023 season. He has turned out five times thus far for the reigning MLS champions, conceding three goals while keeping two clean sheets. Meanwhile, Schulte’s progress at Columbus Crew has helped him earn a call-up to the USMNT, making his international debut in January 2024.
The American goalkeeper’s progress at the MLS club has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of one of the biggest clubs in the world. And Arsenal might look to secure Schulte’s services in the summer transfer window.

Arsenal’s interest in Patrick Schulte is understandable. The Gunners are in the market for a goalkeeper heading into the summer transfer window due to the uncertainties surrounding the future of Aaron Ramsdale. The English international has grown in frustration this season after losing his spot as the first-choice goalkeeper to David Raya.
With Raya set to complete a permanent move to Arsenal this summer, Ramsdale wants to depart from the Emirates. So, several candidates, including Alvaro Valles, have emerged on Arsenal’s radar over a possible summer move. But Schulte is also a viable target for the North London club.
The 23-year-old will not be the first American goalkeeper to join Arsenal, with the Gunners signing Matt Turner two years ago. But it will be interesting to see if Schulte becomes the top target to replace Ramsdale if the Englishman calls time on his spell at the Emirates.
