Tottenham will likely seal an agreement with Son Heung-min over a new contract this summer, with the North London club confident of keeping him.

According to a report by Football Insider, Son Heung-min and Tottenham Hotspur are in talks over a new contract. The 31-year-old is committed to the North London club and will likely seal an agreement over a deal in the summer. And they are confident of tying him to new terms in the coming months.

Son Heung-min and a Successful €30 Million Move

Son Heung-min has come leaps and bounds since joining Tottenham Hotspur from Bayer Leverkusen in a deal worth €30 million in August 2015. A bonafide legend at the North London club, the South Korean international has gone from strength to strength in the last eight and a half years.

The third-highest scorer in Tottenham’s history behind Harry Kane and Jimmy Greaves, he has broken many records at the North London club. The 31-year-old has also won the Premier League Golden Boot and is enjoying an excellent 2023/24 season. Son has contributed to 19 goals in 24 appearances thus far, finding the back of the net 13 times while providing six assists.

Meanwhile, Son has become the Tottenham captain this season after the departure of Harry Kane. While Hugo Lloris was at the club for the first half of the 2023/24 campaign, he was not in Ange Postecoglou’s plans. So, the former Bayer Leverkusen attackers rose in the ranks to don the armband.

Set for an Extended Stay?

Recent reports have created speculation surrounding the future of Son Heung-min. The 31-year-old mainstay has entered the final 18 months of his contract. So, it was hardly surprising that Tottenham wanted to tie him to a new contract before the summer transfer window.

The South Korean international is a target for Saudi Pro League clubs. But the Premier League heavyweights have been uninterested in parting ways with him anytime soon. And Tottenham will soon seal an agreement with Son, as talks between the two parties progress, with the club confident of keeping hold of him.

The report suggests that Son will likely sign a new contract with Tottenham this summer. The Tottenham captain is happy and content at the North London club and does not want to leave anytime soon. So, his stay at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium will continue for at least another season.
