Manchester City are front-runners for the signatures of 28-year-old Bayern Munich midfield genius Joshua Kimmich.
According to Ben Jacobs via CaughtOffside, Manchester City are leading the race for the services of Joshua Kimmich. There is uncertainty over the 28-year-old’s future at Bayern Munich and he could look to push for a move elsewhere.
A possible departure in the summer
Kimmich has been a mainstay in Bayern’s midfield for years now. The 28-year-old has gone from strength to strength over the years and has helped them win multiple titles. But, he hasn’t had the best of times of late.
The German international is not the preferred pick under Thomas Tuchel and with his contract expiring in the summer of 2025, his future has become the talk of the town. Bayern feel the arrival of a new boss could be crucial in negotiations over a new deal with Kimmich.
While they will try their best to extend his stay before the end of the season, if doesn’t happen, there is a real possibility of him leaving the German giants in the summer. They won’t want to risk losing out on him for free and would rather sell him to the highest bidder.
City, Liverpool & Barcelona keen on Kimmich
Manchester City and Liverpool are two English clubs keen on his services. And, as per reports, the player wants to test himself in the English top flight.
The Merseyside club need a new defensive midfielder to further bolster their midfield and they have been linked with Kimmich for a while now. But, there is nothing concrete from the Reds yet as per Jacobs.
Meanwhile, City are quite serious about their pursuit and they seem to be leading the race at this stage. They feel he could form a great partnership with Rodri and could do wonders under his former boss Pep Guardiola.
While City are front-runners, Barcelona are also in the mix. The Spanish giants hugely admire the 28-year-old. They feel he could be the one who helps them overcome the loss of Sergio Busquets who left in the summer.
Kimmich is among the best midfielders in world football, his arrival will give a huge boost to those around him. It could be an ideal signing that helps them turn things around.
