Tottenham are set to rival Manchester City for the signature of Eberechi Eze as Ange Postecoglou eyes a wide forward next summer.

According to The Independent, Tottenham is interested in a move for Eberechi Eze and could rival Manchester City for the 25-year-old English international. Should the attacker choose to move on, Crystal Palace may have less of a say, as Ange Postecoglou is willing to sign a wide attacker in his setup.

Tottenham enter Eberechi Eze race

Tottenham entered the January market as one of the financially-healthy clubs compared to most of their top-six rivals, barring maybe Manchester City. Spurs were one of the clubs in that bracket, and they spent money on recruits with the arrivals of Radu Dragusin and Timo Werner to bolster their squad.

The latter’s arrival on loan may have been an alternative, considering Postecoglou wanted a wide attacker in the window. While they may have targeted someone like Pedro Neto or even Eberechi Eze, the ongoing prices of those players may have seen Tottenham turn their attention towards bringing Werner on loan from RB Leipzig.

Should they find a different solution in the summer, Spurs may not exercise their buy option in the Werner deal. They are interested in Eberechi Eze as an option and make themselves present in the race, which also consists of Manchester City. Pep Guardiola considers the 25-year-old English international a key target and could have never attempted an approach last summer.

This time, Tottenham and Manchester City could battle it for the Crystal Palace attacker, who is seen majorly for the wide role. Eze may have taken up different positions at Crystal Palace, but equally capable and lethal on the wings if needed.

Now it is a decision for the 25-year-old English international to make ahead of growing interest, as a move to Spurs will see him stay in London. But the report claims Manchester City are the front-runners to secure his services.

Tottenham keen on a wide attacker

Eze might be the latest name to emerge on Tottenham’s shortlist and could be seen as a top-draw target should they cement their interest. There is also Pedro Neto, who, as per a recent report, might prefer to join one of Tottenham or Arsenal as opposed to other suitors interested in his signature.

Whether it is Eze or Neto, Postecoglou remains intent on landing one of those stars or someone very similar to their profiles. Such a move might spell the end for Werner at the club, who has not set the world on fire since moving to Tottenham in January.
