Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain are reportedly keen on signing Pau Cubarsi from Barcelona in the summer transfer window.

According to a report by Spanish outlet Fichajes, Pau Cubarsi is gaining popularity in the market. Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain are interested in signing the Barcelona wonderkid in the summer transfer window. The 17-year-old has a release clause worth €10 million in his contract with the reigning La Liga champions.

Pau Cubarsi, the Latest La Masia Graduate

Pau Cubarsi is the latest teenage sensation to establish a foothold in the Barcelona first team under the tutelage of Xavi Hernandez. The Catalan club’s financial issues have forced Xavi to be clever while building his team, turning to the fabled La Masia for the brightest young prospects in the academy.

Fortunately for Xavi, several highly-rated prodigies have emerged, with Alejandro Balde, Gavi, and Lamine Yamal making their mark. Pau Cubarsi has now offered a potential long-term central defensive solution. And the 17-year-old wonderkid has already made nine appearances for Barcelona’s first team this season.

But the youngster’s progress at FC Barcelona has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several high-profile clubs. Premier League bigwigs, in particular, have shown interest in Cubarsi. And he has now emerged as a target for other European heavyweights, with Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain interested in signing him.

European Bigwigs Keen

Bayern Munich’s interest in Pau Cubarsi is understandable. Matthijs de Ligt faces an uncertain future at the Allianz Arena, even though Thomas Tuchel will leave the Bavarian club when the 2023/24 season ends. With Premier League clubs keen, the Dutchman might leave Bayern Munich this summer, making the Barcelona wonderkid a viable target.

As for PSG, Presnel Kimpembe will likely depart from Parc des Princes in the summer transfer window. So, it behoves Les Parisiens to invest in a centre-back ahead of the 2024/25 season. Cubarsi has thus emerged as an option worth considering for PSG.

The 17-year-old wonderkid has a meagre release clause worth €10 million in his contract with Barcelona. So, Bayern Munich and PSG might fancy their prospects of securing his services. But it will be interesting to see if the teenage sensation is open to leaving Barcelona in the summer transfer window.
