Matthijs de Ligt has been linked with a move away from Bayern Munich, with Arsenal, Liverpool, and Manchester United keen on signing him.

A report from HITC has claimed that Matthijs de Ligt is unhappy at Bayern Munich. And the likes of Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester United are being kept informed of the situation of the 24-year-old.

The Dutch defender, who cost Bayern Munich £68 million when he arrived from Juventus, wants to leave the Bundesliga club at the end of the season. The 24-year-old is regarded as one of the finest defensive talents in European football right now. He could prove to be a quality acquisition for most clubs.

The opportunity to move to the Premier League will certainly be an attractive one for him. He has proven himself in the Bundesliga and might want to take up a new challenge at this stage of his career.

Matthijs de Ligt would improve all three clubs

Liverpool could certainly use a quality central defender like Matthijs de Ligt. Joel Matip will be out of contract in the summer, and they will need to replace him adequately. Virgil van Dijk is in his thirties as well. So, Liverpool need to start planning for the future and they need a long-term partner for Ibrahima Konate. The Bayern Munich defender would certainly fit the profile.

Meanwhile, Manchester United might need to replace players like Victor Lindelof, Harry Maguire, and Jonny Evans at the end of the season. Raphael Varane has been linked with an exit as well.

It will be interesting to see which of the two clubs decide to come forward with an official proposal for the Dutch international defender in the summer. Erik ten Hag has worked with de Ligt during their time together at Ajax and is pushing for his signature. Manchester United will probably feel that they could have an edge in the transfer race.

Meanwhile, Arsenal already have four quality central defenders at their disposal – Ben White, Gabriel Magalhaes, Jurrien Timber and William Saliba. It would be quite surprising if they decided to sign another central defender in the summer. They should look to invest in the midfield and the attack instead.

The players linked by this website are overpriced and not world class. Mattijs is not world class neither is striker Toney. The player better linked from Bayern would be Kimmich who’s contract ends in 2025.
They are overpriced and they are not world class over the past 3 years.
There is however 4 world class players that have been linked to Arsenal due to contract issues, that have proven them selves over at least the past 3 years, and they are: 1. Mbappe,, 2 Santiago Geminez,, 3 F De Jong,, 4 Joshua Kimmich. The only player outside this group that is probably available at a reasonable price that is a world class defensive midfielder according to Rice is Fulham’s João Palhinha who usually gets the better of Rice every game, and that’s saying something.
Any of those 5 players would improve Arsenal to the next level, and unlike Toney and Mattijs they have proven themselves over 3 years as consistently the best at what they do, and would hand Arsenal the title. Forget overpriced Mattijs or Toney, who would be a free agent in 2025 if he was smart to hold on. Arsenal should aim higher for the worlds best, who due to contract issues would be available at a discounted price. Edu wake up and smell the coffee, Tottenham and Liverpool have already enquired about these players, do not miss out again, like you did with Mac Alister and Madison that was brought on the cheap.
