West Ham United are reportedly willing to smash their transfer record to sign Dominic Solanke from fellow Premier League club Bournemouth.
According to a report by Football Insider, Dominic Solanke is the subject of interest from West Ham United. The Hammers are keen on signing a striker in the summer transfer window. And they are ready to break their transfer record after “setting aside a huge sum” to secure the services of the Bournemouth attacker.
Dominic Solanke on the Rise
Dominic Solanke has made considerable progress since joining Bournemouth from Liverpool in January 2019. The general expectations surrounding the English striker were low after he failed to make his mark for the Merseyside club. But he has shown why he was a highly-rated prospect during his time at Chelsea’s famous Cobham Academy.
While the 26-year-old has gone from strength to strength in the last half a decade, he has come leaps and bounds in the 18 months since Bournemouth returned to the Premier League. He has enjoyed an excellent 2023/24 campaign thus far, amassing 16 goals and four assists in 28 outings across all competitions.
Solanke is third in the Premier League Golden Boot race, with Erling Haaland finding the back of the net only three more times. So, it is hardly surprising that the Englishman’s stock has skyrocketed, with many well-known clubs interested in signing him. And West Ham United will look to prise him away from Bournemouth in the summer transfer window.
West Ham Want Solanke
West Ham also considered signing Dominic Solanke heading into the winter transfer window. But a move did not materialise, with Bournemouth shutting the door to any transfer. However, West Ham’s interest in the 26-year-old has not waned, as they are keen on landing a striker in the summer.
Michail Antonio and Danny Ings are well past their best, meaning David Moyes does not have a reliable recognised striker in his squad. Jarrod Bowen has thus had to play as a makeshift striker this season. Solanke has thus emerged as a viable target, with West Ham “setting aside a huge sum”.
The Hammers are ready to smash their transfer record to secure Solanke’s services in the summer transfer window. Bournemouth will reportedly demand a premium to part ways with the English striker. But it will be interesting to see if West Ham can land the 26-year-old.
