Real Madrid will reportedly look to prise 23-year-old Norwegian international Erling Haaland away from Manchester City in 2025.

According to a report by Spanish outlet Fichajes, Erling Haaland is the subject of interest from Real Madrid. The Merengues are keen on signing the 23-year-old striker in the summer transfer window. But Manchester City will look to tie him to a new contract before the Spanish giants come calling next year.

Erling Haaland has been one of the best strikers in the world for several years. The Norwegian international rose in prominence during his short stint with Red Bull Salzburg, alerting every top club in Europe. But Borussia Dortmund won the race to sign him in January 2020.

The 23-year-old was an exceptional performer for Borussia Dortmund, scoring goals for fun in his 30-month stay at Signal Iduna Park. But Haaland’s stay at the Bundesliga club ended in July 2022, with Manchester City signing him for just €60 million. The 29-cap international has been incredible for the Citizens, guiding them to the treble in his first season at the Etihad.

While Haaland has not been as productive as his first season, he still has an excellent record of 22 goals and six assists in 28 appearances thus far this term. Meanwhile, his progress has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several high-profile clubs, including Real Madrid.

The Merengues hold a long-standing interest in Erling Haaland, having previously considered signing him. They remain interested in the 23-year-old Manchester City mainstay, having been in regular contact with him. And the report has suggested that Real Madrid will hope to have an “unbeatable” attack consisting of Vinicius Junior, Kylian Mbappe, and Haaland for a decade.

Los Blancos will look to launch the offensive for Haaland in the 2025 summer transfer window by triggering his release clause. But Manchester City will look to remove that option by tying him to a new contract. The Premier League champions are eager to hand the 29-cap Norwegian international a new deal.

In addition, Haaland is seemingly happy at Manchester City, which should boost the English club’s prospects. But it will be interesting to see if Real Madrid can turn his head in the 2025 summer transfer window.

Tedious. Why would Haaland – at the best team in the world, at the best run club in the world, with the best manager in the world, go to a second rate league?
