According to Fichajes, Victor Osimhen wants to emulate his ‘idol’ Didier Drogba and make the switch to Stamford Bridge. The €130 million-rated star could have the chance to join Chelsea, should the West Londoners cement their interest and approach in the summer.

When the summer transfer window opens, Victor Osimhen will become a coveted name, and many clubs will scramble around for his signature. Some weeks ago, the €130 million-rated star suggested he might have already made a decision, and it does look like the Nigertian might end up joining Chelsea.

The potential lack of Champions League football was considered a blow for Chelsea in the race. Rivals Arsenal may have an advantage in that regard, although Osimhen is reportedly keen on moving to Stamford Bridge and following the footsteps of his idol Didier Drogba.

Chelsea have reportedly opened discussions for the striker and could ponder paying the release clause for the attacker. Napoli secured him to a new deal recently and included the €130 million exit clause, which will see them make a decent profit on their investment.

Chelsea have been looking for a new striker since last summer and may have narrowed down on Osimhen as their preferred target for the summer. Should what the report states about the Nigerian come out accurately, Chelsea will have a solid option on their hands for the coming years, as Osimhen is ready to break into the Premier League.

Chelsea will face intense competition for Osimhen

Despite claims that Osimhen would prefer a move to Chelsea, it still needs to be a more straightforward transfer. The Blues might have to pay the entire release clause for the €130 million-rated star and beat off the competition. Arsenal are one of the clubs keen, but so are PSG, who intend to dash the Nigerian.

Napoli will not entertain bids below Osimhen’s €130 million release clause, something PSG are equipped to pay should they get a positive response from the striker. They do have Rafael Leao as an alternative to the Napoli star, which could boost Chelsea’s hopes of signing the Nigerian man.
