Kylian Mbappe, a target for Liverpool, has reportedly agreed to sign a five-year contract worth €15-20 million per year with Real Madrid.

According to a report by Spanish outlet MARCA, Kylian Mbappe will join Real Madrid in the summer transfer window. The French international was also a target for Liverpool and Manchester City. But the Paris Saint-Germain talisman has already agreed to a five-year contract worth €15-20 million per year.

The Rise and Rise of Mbappe

Kylian Mbappe has blossomed into one of the best players in the world in the last half a dozen years. The 25-year-old burst onto the scene at AS Monaco in the 2016/17 season before Paris Saint-Germain came calling. Les Parisiens beat several high-profile clubs, including Real Madrid, to his signature.

Since then, the Frenchman has come leaps and bounds, becoming a talismanic figure for PSG. While there has been a lot of speculation surrounding Mbappe’s future, he has been excellent thus far this term, amassing 32 goals and seven assists in 31 outings across all competitions.

But Mbappe has entered the final six months of his contract with PSG, alerting almost every high-profile club in the world. He has come close to joining Real Madrid in the last few transfer windows, although a move has never materialised. The 2018 FIFA World Cup winner has also been a target for Liverpool, according to HITC.

Set for a New Adventure

But recent reports had claimed that Liverpool did not have the funds to secure Mbappe’s services due to his high wage demands. Nonetheless, the Reds were unsurprising interested in signing the French international amid uncertainties surrounding the long-term future of Mohamed Salah.

As for Real Madrid, they had recently sealed an agreement with Mbappe over a possible summer move. The report by MARCA has shed some light on the upcoming move, with the 25-year-old signing a five-year contract. He will pocket €15-20 million-a-year wages, with Real Madrid also agreeing to pay bonuses on the basis of performances.

So, Liverpool and his other suitors have lost the race to secure Mbappe’s services this summer. The French attacker is on his way to Real Madrid, with his seven-year stint with PSG ending when the 2023/24 culminates.
