Paris Saint-Germain will reportedly look to launch a double raid on Newcastle United to sign midfield duo Joelinton and Bruno Guimaraes.

According to a report by Graeme Bailey on HITC, Joelinton and Bruno Guimaraes might leave Newcastle United in the summer transfer window. The Magpies are in a spot of bother on the Financial Fair Play front and might have to part ways with a few key players. And Paris Saint-Germain will look to poach the duo away from St. James’ Park.

Joelinton and his Transformation

Joelinton has had an interesting journey at Newcastle United since arriving from Hoffenheim in July 2019. A striker when he joined the Tyneside club, the Brazilian international struggled to be prolific in the final third. But his life changed after moving into his current midfield role a few years ago.

Eddie Howe has brought the best out of Joelinton, who, along with Bruno Guimaraes, has forged a solid midfield partnership for Newcastle United. The 27-year-old has enjoyed a solid 2023/24 season, chipping in with three goals and four assists. But he faces an uncertain future at St. James’ Park after entering the final 18 months of his contract.

Recent reports have painted a contradictory picture of Joelinton’s future. Some suggest Newcastle United will look to tie him to a new contract, while others claim they are ready to cash in on him. So, amid the uncertainty, Joelinton has emerged as a target for Paris Saint-Germain, who will also look to raid Newcastle United for Bruno Guimaraes.

Joelinton and Bruno Guimaraes to PSG?

Bruno Guimaraes has become one of the most highly sought-after midfielders in the world during his stint with Newcastle United. The Brazilian international is a target for PSG and other high-profile clubs like Barcelona, Real Madrid and many Premier League bigwigs. Meanwhile, PSG’s interest in the Brazilian midfield duo is understandable.

While the Ligue 1 champions have heavily bolstered their midfield unit in recent transfer windows, they are still seemingly missing a trick in the middle of the park. So, it behoves to invest in a midfielder or two, making Joelinton and Bruno Guimaraes viable targets.

Considering Newcastle United’s delicate situation on the FFP front, it will not be surprising if they sell both players in the summer transfer window. But it will be interesting to see if the midfield duo lands at PSG ahead of the 2024/25 season.
