Paris Saint-Germain are reportedly keen on signing Newcastle United midfielder Bruno Guimaraes this year.

According to TNT Sports, PSG have initiated contact with Newcastle United regarding a move for 26-year-old Brazilian midfielder Bruno Guimaraes.

Bruno Guimaraes at Newcastle United: The Story So Far

Bruno Guimaraes has been one of the best midfielders in the Premier League since his move to Newcastle United. So, it is hardly a surprise that top European clubs are keen on signing him. He could prove to be a quality acquisition for PSG, and he would improve the French club in the middle of the park with his technical ability.

It will be interesting to see if Newcastle United are prepared to sanction his departure anytime soon. The 26-year-old Brazilian is a fan favourite, and he is an indispensable asset for Newcastle. Letting him leave would weaken the squad immensely.

Newcastle United are one of the wealthiest clubs in the world, and they do not need to sell players for money. They will be hoping to qualify for the Champions League and compete for major trophies. They must hold on to their best players in order for that to happen, and keeping the 26-year-old midfielder should be their top priority.

PSG Keen on Signing Bruno Guimaraes

Regardless of what PSG are offering, Newcastle must do everything in their power to convince the Brazilian to stay. But Financial Fair Play implications can change the equation, keeping suitors in the hunt for Bruno Guimaraes.

Newcastle are going through a rough patch right now, and they will look to bounce back strongly and push for Champions League qualification. They cannot hope to do so without their best players. Therefore, any move in January seems almost impossible. It will be interesting to see if PSG decide to test Newcastle’s resolve with a lucrative proposal.

If they can convince the player to join them, it would certainly weaken Newcastle’s stance. The Premier League club will not want to hold on to an unhappy player. So, PSG should look to focus on convincing the midfielder first.

Meanwhile, Bruno Guimaraes wants to compete at the highest level, and if Newcastle cannot provide him with that platform the player could easily be tempted to join Champions League regulars PSG. The midfielder is reported devalued at €116 million and it will be interesting to see how the situation develops over the next few days.
