La Liga champions Barcelona have reportedly established contact to initiate the move to sign 26-year-old Girona midfielder Aleix Garcia.

According to a report by Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo, Aleix Garcia is the subject of interest from Barcelona. The reigning La Liga champions are in the market for a midfielder ahead of the summer transfer window. And they have initiated the contacts to sign the 26-year-old Girona midfielder.

The Rise of Aleix Garcia

Aleix Garcia has established himself as one of the best players in La Liga since joining Girona. The Ulldecona native had been a journeyman after leaving his hometown in 2005 and graduating from the Villarreal youth division. He had stints in England, Belgium, and Spain before returning to Catalonia by moving to Girona in July 2021.

The 26-year-old has been instrumental in Girona’s stupendous rise in the last three years. The White and Reds are currently in the thick of the title race, with Garcia, who has turned out 25 times while chipping in with three goals and four assists this term, being one of the best players in La Liga.

Meanwhile, the player’s progress in the last few years has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several high-profile clubs. Barcelona will be chief among his suitors in the summer transfer window, with the reigning La Liga champions keen on securing his services.
