Manchester United are reportedly better positioned than Arsenal and Chelsea to sign Ivan Toney, who will cost around £80 million.

According to a report by TEAMtalk, Ivan Toney is the subject of interest from Manchester United. The Brentford striker, who will cost around £80 million in the summer transfer window, is also a target for Arsenal and Chelsea. But the Red Devils are the better-positioned club to land the English international.

The Rise and Rise of Ivan Toney

Ivan Toney has established himself as one of the best strikers in the Premier League since arriving in the top flight with Brentford a few years ago. The 27-year-old and the Bees made an immediate impact in the Premier League, taking the competition by storm.

While the Englishman has spent most of the 2023/24 on the sidelines due to a betting ban, his stock remains as high as ever. Meanwhile, Toney has returned to action with a bang, scoring twice in as many games thus far. But he faces an uncertain future at Brentford, with Arsenal, Chelsea, and Manchester United interested.

A Man in Demand

Arsenal will delve into the market for a striker in the summer transfer window. And Ivan Toney has emerged as the priority target for the North London club. The English international can add a glut of goals to the Arsenal attack, making him an option worth considering. The player is also optimistic of joining the Gunners.

As for Chelsea, the Blues are also in the market for a striker, with the Nicolas Jackson experiment not yielding the desired results. The Blues need a prolific attacker who scores goals for fun and does away with the team’s goalscoring woes. But Chelsea will prioritise signing Victor Osimhen over Toney.

Meanwhile, Manchester United will enter the market for a striker, with Anthony Martial set to leave as a free agent. While Rasmus Hojlund has finally found his feet at Old Trafford, Erik ten Hag wants another striker to add to the competition for the Dane. And Manchester United are better positioned than Arsenal and Chelsea in the race to sign Ivan Toney.

It is unclear if Manchester United can afford to pay £80 million to sign Toney from Brentford. Chelsea can shell out £80 million to land the 27-year-old. But with the Blues prioritising Osimhen instead, Arsenal and Manchester United have a clearer run at the Englishman.
