Barcelona will reportedly look to launch a late move to sign 26-year-old Ecuadorian full-back Pervis Estupinan from Brighton & Hove Albion.

According to a report by Spanish outlet Fichajes, Pervis Estupinan is the subject of interest from Barcelona. The Catalan giants are considering a late move to sign a left-back to cover for the absence of Alejandro Balde. And they have set their sights on the 26-year-old Brighton & Hove Albion defender.

Who is Pervis Estupinan?

Pervis Estupinan has established himself as one of the best full-backs in the Premier League since joining Brighton & Hove Albion from Villarreal in August 2022. He is currently in his second stint in England after a forgettable spell with Watford between 2017 and 2020.

The 26-year-old has gone from strength to strength at Brighton & Hove Albion in the last 18 months. He has turned out over 50 times thus far for the Seagulls, chipping in with four goals and 11 assists. Meanwhile, Estupinan’s progress at the Premier League club has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several high-profile clubs.

Reports in the summer transfer window had linked the Ecuadorian international with Liverpool. But a return to La Liga might be on the cards for Pervis Estupinan, who has emerged as a target for Barcelona.

Barcelona Interested in Pervis Estupinan

The reigning La Liga champions have endured a frustrating 2023/24 campaign thus far. To make matters worse, several pivotal figures have suffered untimely injuries, the latest being first-choice left-back Alejandro Balde. With Marcos Alonso also on the sidelines due to his long-term fitness issue, it behoves Barcelona to invest in a left-back.

While Financial Fair Play issues pose a problem, the Catalan giants are identifying targets if they can make things work. Recent reports have thus linked Barcelona with several left-backs, including Sergi Cardona. But Pervis Estupinan is also a viable target for the Blaugrana over a late move in the January transfer window.

But Brighton & Hove Albion might not entertain any offers for the 26-year-old. With the Seagulls still alive in multiple competitions, they need all hands on deck to ensure a successful end to the 2023/24 season. So, it will be surprising if the Premier League outfit will respond favourably to a late offer from Barcelona for Estupinan.
