Premier League heavyweights Chelsea are reportedly willing to include Armando Broja in the deal to sign Jhon Duran from Aston Villa.
According to a report by Graeme Bailey for HITC, Jhon Duran is the subject of interest from Chelsea, while Armando Broja is a target for Aston Villa. The two clubs are now contemplating a part-exchange deal involving the young attacking duo, with Chelsea ready to include the 22-year-old in a deal to sign the Colombian international.
Jhon Duran and Armando Broja: The Need to Resurrect One’s Career
Jhon Duran has had to bide his time since joining Aston Villa from Chicago Hearts. The 20-year-old was in and out of the starting lineup last season, and that pattern has continued this term. The youngster has a decent tally of four goals and one assist in 662 minutes of game time, featuring 23 times thus far.
The situation is no different for Armando Broja, who has been a backup option for Chelsea this term. The Albanian international has returned from a long-term knee injury this season. But he has struggled to stamp his authority in the first half of the 2023/24 campaign.
Nonetheless, Broja’s stock remains high, with Aston Villa, Fulham, and a few other clubs keen on signing him. As for Jhon Duran, the Colombian international is a target for Chelsea. And a part-exchange deal involving Jhon Duran and Armando Broja might be on the cards soon.
Set to Swap Bases?
Chelsea and Aston Villa are concerned about flouting the Premier League’s Sustainability Rules. So, they need to be creative in the market to bolster their squads. With Unai Emery not rating Jhon Duran highly and wanting to sign Broja from Chelsea, a clever arrangement might be on the cards.
Recent reports claimed that Aston Villa did not want to entertain any offers to sell Duran. But the Villans are discussing a potential part-exchange deal which will see Broja arriving at Villa Park from Chelsea on an initial loan deal. The agreement will also include a mandatory purchase clause.
But Aston Villa will face stiff competition form Fulham for Broja. However, considering the Villans have a player to Chelsea’s liking, they might soon become the front-runners to sign the 22-year-old. It will be interesting to see if a part-exchange deal sees the light of day.
