Aston Villa and West Ham United are reportedly eyeing a loan move for 26-year-old German international Florian Neuhaus.

According to a report by German outlet Bild, Florian Neuhaus wants to leave Borussia Monchengladbach in the January transfer window. The German international wants to resurrect his career and is looking for his next adventure. Aston Villa and West Ham United are interested in him and will likely take up his €4 million-a-year wages.

Florian Neuhaus in a Pickle

Florian Neuhaus has seen his stock plummet in the last six months. It was not long ago that the 26-year-old was among the most highly sought-after midfielders in the world, with many Premier League bigwigs showing interest in him. But he has become a rotation option at Borussia Monchengladbach, adversely impacting his stature.

The German international has not even managed 1,000 minutes of game time, with starts coming at a premium. While he has featured 18 times thus far this term, only seven outings came from the get-go. So, it is hardly surprising that Neuhaus wants to leave Borussia Monchengladbach before the January transfer window shuts down.

The player has no shortage of suitors pursuing him. Well-known European clubs like AS Roma, Lazio, and Sevilla have reportedly submitted enquiries for Florian Neuhaus. But Premier League outfits Aston Villa and West Ham United are among the front-runners to secure his services.

Premier League Calling?

Aston Villa’s interest in Neuhaus is intriguing, considering Unai Emery has seen Douglas Luiz, Boubacar Kamara, John McGinn, and Youri Tielemans excel this season. So, it is difficult to see how the German international will fit into the scheme of things at Villa Park.

As for West Ham, the Hammers are on the verge of confirming the arrival of Kalvin Phillips. So, there might not be more vacant spots for a first-choice midfielder at the London Stadium. Nonetheless, Aston Villa and West Ham will likely take up his €4 million-a-year wages in full.

While neither club will likely offer Florian Neuhaus regular starts, the report insists they are the front-runners to sign him. So, it will be interesting to see if a move to the Premier League sees the light of day.
