Newcastle United could target a move for Benjamin Sesko during the summer as a long-term replacement for Callum Wilson.

Football Transfers links Newcastle United with a move for Benjamin Sesko in the summer window. The Austrian forward has played second fiddle since moving to RB Leipzig, which could convince him of a move to the Premier League in the summer.

Newcastle United plot Benjamin Sesko’s move

The striker market will evolve in the upcoming summer window as a host of top Premier League sides eye a new centre-forward. Arsenal, Manchester United, and even Manchester City are all about to make a foray into the market for a new No.9, while Chelsea will also make some significant moves.

One name on some of the shortlists of top clubs is Benjamin Sesko, with Chelsea and Manchester United keen on the Austrian forward. Arsenal are also reportedly considering a move, and now, Newcastle United appear to have entered the chase for the 20-year-old Bundesliga striker.

Sesko has had a limited presence and continues to play second-fiddle to Lois Openda at RB Leipzig. There are suggestions the Bundesliga side will demand around €50 million to sell him, and the player appears to favour a move to the Premier League.

The Magpies feel the 20-year-old Bundesliga striker could become the long-term successor to Callum Wilson, as Eddie Howe wants to reduce the age of his squad. The acquisition of Sesko could spark intense competition for the striker’s position as he could compete with Alexander Isak.

Newcastle United are expecting massive summer movements.

The Magpies are considered one of the wealthiest clubs following their Saudi-based takeover in 2022, but FFP has restricted them from spending massively. In fact, there are suggestions that Newcastle United may have to sell some of their key stars to balance their books, which could see a few of their notable stars depart.

There are rumours about Arsenal’s interest in striker Isak, and now the links to Sesko would seem to have a connection. Similarly, there are suggestions that Bruno Guimaraes could also depart, with Chelsea one of the sides keen alongside Real Madrid and Barcelona.

Whether their current situation improves around the summer window remains the question. Yet, there’s a feeling Newcastle United will want to target a key striker around the next window, as Sesko could be one of the essential names on a long drawn out shortlist.
