Chelsea and Manchester United will reportedly have to fork out €50 million to acquire the services of RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko, who is seriously considering leaving the German side in January.

According to Spanish outlet Fichajes, RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko could cost over €50 million if Chelsea and Manchester United attempt to sign the 20-year-old Slovenian international during the January transfer window.

Benjamin Sesko: The Situation At RB Leipzig

Sesko penned a five-year deal after joining RB Leipzig from sister club Red Bull Salzburg in the summer of 2023, following an impressive season in which he bagged 16 goals in 30 Austrian Bundesliga games. But despite his promise, he has been unable to establish himself as a regular starter so far.

Throughout the 2023/24 campaign, he has played second fiddle to Lois Openda. The Belgian goal machine arrived at the Red Bull Arena off the back of a stellar campaign for Lens and has continued his fine form for RB Leipzig with 15 goals from 22 Bundesliga and Champions League games. Sesko has mostly come off the bench this season but is also playing well.

The 20-year-old has seven goals in just six starts across all competitions and has continued his impressive run of form with Slovenia to help in their Euro 2024 qualification.

Sesko has turned the heads of many top European clubs with his dazzling displays and could surprisingly be made available in the January transfer window by Leipzig, which comes as a major boost to Chelsea and Manchester United’s hopes of signing a new striker in the upcoming transfer window.

How Much Will Sesko Cost?

The Bundesliga side have reportedly informed suitors that they are willing to let the 20-year-old forward move elsewhere in the new year if their valuation is met, as they want to double the initial investment in him. It is understood that they are looking for a fee of around €50 million for the Slovenian international.

Victor Osimhen has been heavily linked with a move to Chelsea for a while now. But with Napoli tying down their talisman to a new deal, the Blues may be forced to explore alternative options. Ivan Toney is also a rumoured target for the club.

But perhaps a cheaper and smarter alternative to the England international is Sesko, who could not only develop into a quality attacker for the Blues in the long run but might be ready to hit the ground running straightaway.

Similarly, Manchester United are keen to add extra quality to their striking department after enduring an underwhelming season so far, as they are out of Europe and the Carabao Cup while sitting seventh in the Premier League. With Rasmus Hojlund yet to score in league action and Marcus Rashford desperately out-of-form, Erik ten Hag could benefit from having a fit and firing striker leading the line.
