Benjamin Sesko could consider leaving RB Leipzig in January amid growing interest from Premier League clubs.

According to 90min, Premier League clubs could keep a watchful eye on developments around Benjamin Sesko as the RB Leipzig forward could consider leaving in January. Chelsea and Manchester United are among the teams keen on the striker, with the Bundesliga outfit also pondering over their next steps.

Benjamin Sesko: What’s the Situation?

Premier League interest in Benjamin Sesko is nothing new, considering many teams had considered making a move during the summer transfer window. However, he chose the path drawn out to him by Red Bull Salzburg, with the next step seeing him join RB Leipzig in Germany in a £20 million deal.

The move seemed very logical for a player coming through the ranks in the Red Bull franchise. But things have not gone well for the Slovenian in Germany. The 20-year-old had anticipated regular game time and becoming a key player for the Bundesliga side. Instead, he continues to languish on the bench for most parts.

While there is no denying the quality of his talents, Lois Openda’s form at RB Leipzig has ensured Sesko plays only a small part in the team. Leipzig have plenty of big ambitions this season as they are keen to dethrone Bayern Munich from their Bundesliga dominance, which might require a good enough squad to compete.

However, they could see the opportunity to double their money on the young striker and consider offers that might come from the Premier League. Manchester United are among those interested, alongside a host of other clubs from England.

What Next for Benjamin Sesko?

Despite earlier reports stating Sesko will not leave Leipzig, the striker’s stance might have changed in the background as he seeks regular playing time in the next phase of his career. He could seek another switch within six months if the move can change his current plight.

Chelsea have looked at different strikers, with another report speculating they might pay big for Viktor Gyokeres from Sporting CP. They also retain an interest in Sesko and might consider an approach in January. For now, they are preparing their plans for the next window, as Mauricio Pochettino is yet to make decisions on what he needs in the squad.

Similarly, Manchester United are also itching for a new striker after Rasmus Hojlund’s below-par displays since his big-money summer switch. They do not intend to sell the Dane but bring in someone to complement the former Atalanta star in the frontline. Sesko remains an option, but things will depend on the available finances and Leipzig’s willingness to sell in January.
