Benjamin Sesko may not leave RB Leipzig in January despite solid Premier League interest in the Slovenian striker.

According to Give Me Sport, Arsenal and Manchester United may have to wait beyond the January transfer window to sign Benjamin Sesko. The £60,000-a-week RB Leipzig striker has a long-term contract with the Bundesliga club, which makes things tricky for Premier League sides to convince his club.

Benjamin Sesko reportedly snubbed many offers from the Premier League as he was looking to take the proper steps into his footballing career. He could have joined one of the English sides and made a mark. But instead, he chose to take the following steps from Red Bull Salzburg to Bundesliga-based sister club RB Leipzig.

Despite the buildup to his move, Sesko has not featured too much for Leipzig. The Bundesliga side paid a hefty fee and wages worth £60,000 per week on a long-term contract. That will undoubtedly have an impact even if the player wants a move ahead of the January window.

A host of Premier League sides are keen on Sesko and could make their moves if Leipzig decidesto cash in on the young Slovenian striker. Ben Jacobs has claimed Sesko will unlikely depart so soon into his Leipzig career and predicted it might even take up to 2025 for the forward to join another elite outfit.

Jacobs said, “He only joined Leipzig in 2023, so I think anything in January will be extremely difficult. I believe that even in the summer of 2024, it’s not a guarantee that he will leave Leipzig. It might be in 2025 that Sesko moves somewhere, but January isn’t going to happen, from talking to sources.”

“It’s too early, compared to when he joined Leipzig. The player wants to have a full season in the Bundesliga, so there’s nothing yet in terms of Arsenal and Sesko. It’s all just talk. It’s all just superficial links.”

“Every top club is looking at every young, top player as part of their due diligence, whether they’re going to move or not. But there’s nothing, as far as I’m aware, beyond that between Arsenal and Sesko.”

Arsenal are one of the clubs keeping close tabs on Sesko as Mikel Arteta might dip into the January market for a new striker. Rumblings about Ivan Toney are rife. But his massive asking price would rule out a move to north London.

Manchester United are also looking for an additional striker to Rasmus Hojlund, although both the Danish star and Sesko have a similar profile. Despite holding an interest, Erik ten Hag may choose to strengthen priority areas such as central midfield or defence rather than signing another striker.
