According to a report by Spanish outlet Fichajes, Lutsharel Geertruida is the subject of interest from Real Madrid. The Merengues are in the market for a right-back as they search for a long-term successor to Dani Carvajal. And the 23-year-old versatile Feyenoord defender has emerged as a target. The Spanish giants are ready to pay €35 million to sign him.
Who is Lutsharel Geertruida?
Lutsharel Geertruida is a native of Rotterdam and spent his youth career in his hometown. The Dutchman graduated from the Feyenoord youth division and has come leaps and bounds since breaking into the first-team squad. He made his first-team debut as a 17-year-old in October 2017 but has become a regular since the 2020/21 season.
The 23-year-old was among the instrumental figures as Feyenoord won the Eredivisie title last season. His versatility is the greatest asset for the Dutch champions, as he can play as a right-back, a centre-back, and a holding midfielder. Meanwhile, Geertruida is enjoying an excellent 2023/24 season, chipping in with five goals and two assists in 26 appearances thus far.
Geertruida’s progress has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of high-profile clubs across Europe. Reports in the summer transfer window had linked him with Barcelona. The Dutch defender has now emerged as a target for Real Madrid.
