Real Madrid are reportedly keen on signing 25-year-old English international Trent Alexander-Arnold from Liverpool.

A report from Defensa Central has claimed that Real Madrid have identified Trent Alexander-Arnold as their top target. Los Blancos initially wanted to sign Reece James but have set their sights on the Liverpool mainstay instead.

Trent Alexander-Arnold: One of the Best Full-Backs in the World

The 25-year-old has established himself as a world-class player, and he is undoubtedly the best right-back in the world right now. It is no surprise that Real Madrid want to sign him, especially with Dani Carvajal in his twilight years.

The England international could be the ideal replacement for Carvajal, and he would help Real Madrid improve in the final third. Although he can be a bit unreliable defensively, Alexander-Arnold is exceptional going forward, and he has the ability to control games from the full-back position with his world-class passing ability and vision.

Is a Move Possible?

It will be interesting to see if Real Madrid decide to test Liverpool’s resolve with an offer for the 25-year-old England international in the coming months. Liverpool view him as an indispensable asset. So, it is highly unlikely that they would sanction his departure anytime soon. Alexander-Arnold is also looked at as a future leader for the club after Virgil van Dijk.

The 25-year-old is unlikely to push for a move away from his boyhood club. So, any transfer is quite difficult. The opportunity to play for Real Madrid can be quite tempting for any player. But Alexander-Arnold is already winning major trophies with Liverpool, and he is playing under a world-class manager like Jurgen Klopp, who has helped him improve immensely.

He is unlikely to be attracted to the idea of playing for Real Madrid just yet and will want to continue at his boyhood club and forge a legacy with them. Real Madrid will have to pay well over the odds to tempt Liverpool, and they would have to present a lucrative contract for the defender as well in order to get his attention.

It will be interesting to see how the situation situation unfolds during the summer transfer window. But while a move for top target Trent Alexander-Arnold remains uncertain, they will definitely not pursue Reece James.
