Conor Gallagher has been linked with a move away from Chelsea in recent months but is prepared to turn down a January exit.

A report from TEAMtalk has claimed that Conor Gallagher will turn down any potential move to stay at Chelsea until the end of the season. Tottenham and West Ham United are keen on the 23-year-old, and the development will come as a major blow for the two clubs.

Conor Gallagher in a Soup at Chelsea

Gallagher has established himself as a key player for Chelsea this season. But the Blues face Financial Fair Play implication, and they will need to raise funds for their own signings. They have already spent substantial amounts of money this season and need to comply with the regulations.

Chelsea cannot afford to spend recklessly and. So, they are willing to sacrifice someone to strengthen the other areas of their squad. Gallagher has been identified as a sellable asset. But the player is not keen on a move away this month.

The 23-year-old midfielder has already captained Chelsea several times this season, and he will look to establish himself as a key player for the Blues in the coming seasons. Tottenham Hotspur could certainly use a quality midfielder like him and the Englishman would have been the ideal long-term replacement for Denmark International Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg.

Gallagher in Demand

The 28-year-old has been linked with a move away from Tottenham owing to a lack of game time, with clubs like Juventus and Atletico Madrid linked with moves for him. The Chelsea midfielder would have been the ideal fit for Tottenham current style of play. His work rate and pressing ability would have been invaluable additions to the Tottenham midfield.

Meanwhile, West Ham are keen on the player as well. They managed to win the UEFA Europa Conference League last season and will look to win the UEFA Europa League this year. West Ham are looking to put together a formidable squad, and a quality central midfielder like Gallagher could improve them immensely.

It will be interesting to see if Tottenham and West Ham decide to test Chelsea’s resolve with an offer this month and try to convince the player with a lucrative proposal. As things stand, the 23-year-old is not interested in a move, and the two clubs will probably have to offer him a very attractive deal to change his stance.

Gallagher has proven himself in the Premier League over the years, and he could improve most teams in the country. The interest in him is hardly a surprise, and it will be interesting to see how Chelsea handle the situation in the coming weeks. They will not want to force a player out and Gallagher defying the club chiefs would not go down well at Stamford Bridge either.
